What is the average cost per hour for a web designer?

Although web designers can be segregated into a number of different categories like: web design, web programming, database management, search engine marketer, seo expert, etc… It is important these days to hire a specialist for a certian job and make sure that your project consists of the right talents for each. You also have to consider that most internet based jobs are now being narrowed down in to specialist fields like I mentioned above, so you may want to research what it may take for per job and skillset.

If you are wondering what the average cost is per hour to hire someone to do internet or web based work; you may want to consider the following:
1. For a Design Firm or Agency, the average price per hour for web related work can be around $100 per hour.
2. For a small web design firm you may be able to find strong talented programmers and web designers for about $35 to even $60 an hour.
3. If you have small projects that can be executed in a short amount of time, you may be able to hire a freelance website designer, programmer, and internet marketing guru for around $15 to $25 an hour.

You also have to consider the project at hand as well… Most businesses that prefer strong page position and an excellerated rate of traffic, plus an e-commerce store front are much more willing to pay the above $100 per hour rate. If you are spending this much, you not only will get quality and performance, but more than most of the time you will have a team that is committed to helping you reach your online goals and exposures.

If you have ever heard of “You Get What You Pay For,” then you can probably bet that spending $10 to $15 an hour for logo design, web design, and even small internet marketing campaigns will not get you the results that you are ultimately looking for. Not only that but your team may work only commit to portion of your project or less… Which will make your deadlines be farther along than if you would have started with an agency that has a strong history of clientele.

Icons are great first impressions!

This is an icon for RSS Feeds

Yes, you have it, you like design, consistency, and flow… Icons are a great source of direction when displaying content visually. Icons are an art display that express words into art and because most people are visual learners, icons are great for webpages. Within a webpage you can immediately teach a user on a website what types of tools, features, and information you have to display in a number of text and icons. By using icons you are able to display the same image for that perticular topic throughout your website to help a user understand where that source is if they would like to get to it. Also, icons save a lot of room when trying to display a certain ad or page direction.

When is it best to use icons? When your page is full of multiple categories and text and they are hard to distinguish where to go or what to read use an icon. If you can seperate your text into several blank spaces and float an icon to help the user understand what each section is all about…

If you are interested in what an icon actually is see what Wiki has to say about: “Icon”

“An icon (from Greek εἰκών, eikōn, “image”) is an image, picture, or representation; it is a sign or likeness that stands for an object by signifying or representing it, or by analogy, as in semiotics; by extension, icon is also used, particularly in modern culture, in the general sense of symbol — i.e. a name, face, picture, edifice or even a person readily recognized as having some well-known significance or embodying certain qualities. one thing, and image or depiction, that represents something else of greater significance through literal or figurative meaning, usually associated with religious, cultural, political, and economic standing.” - Icon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In simple matters: An icon looks like this if you want to tell everyone that this is an RSS feed… [ see above ]

Content is King! But why…

You may have heard of the phrase “content is king” just like you have witnessed a number of “.COM” domain names go for large sums of money. Well, just as a valuable “.COM” domain name holds creditability for being strong in search, popularity, or even history; content can also hold that same sort of power. Content no matter if it is displayed in web pages, blogs, or press releases presents something new to the readers. Over time content can also hold an extremly valuable ranking for a number of multiple keyword terms. So why is “content” king? Well, because it is… If you produce a number of topical articles that are strong in grammer, news worthy, and is repeated throughout a timeline, Google, Yahoo, and MSN are rewarding you for your efforts. Plus, the main focus is that these search engines enjoy placing relevant and creditable content for queries on a minutes basis. So the more relevant your content is the more valuable it is to the world, which ultimately makes your content king over a particular topic, category, or keyword.

Post your king today…

Jobs are a hot topic these days!

Are you looking for a job? Jobs are a very highly searched term because of the relevance and the desired interested of most online surfers. Although, many people do not necessarily know where to go when trying to find a job. Do we go to monter.com or careerbuilder? What if you want to just search for a job in your local area and are only interested in jobs that are relevant to where you live. Well, this is why local search websites and search queries are becoming more powerful.

Take a look at the search term “jobs wilmington nc” for example, this searched term is geared for people only looking for jobs in the Wilmington, North Carolina area. So it would make since for a company to begin a job search site in this area to help cater to those looking for jobs in wilmington nc. In the future, you may want to try a site like jobswilmingtonnc.com, to help you find a job in Wilmington.

This can be found true for most matched job queries that are only relevant to what a job seeker may be looking for. And we should see more of theses segmented sites like this in search to help cater to the user give the generic dot com domain name.

Why search? Local Or NOT!

Many search engine marketers are feeling the rage even a year ago from now because of the optimization that goes along with search. Google did launch the local search feature about a year ago to help local businesses better place themselves in Google rankings when a particular location keyword is inserted within a query like “vacations san diego” for instence. Today, the feature still exists on the playing field and has now grown from three to five local search results to ten listings depending on the query called.

Some or many even may have frawned upon this as a way for local business to dominate the location targeted search terms. Well, they were right it certainly does, but let’s look at the growth of the internet, maybe even the increase in search, and the highly profitable increase of doing more and more business on the web. We are entering an era where teens are searching on cell phones and mature adults are engaging in social media networks. As the future rolls on SEM’s (search engine marketers) are going to have to develop more and more ways to attract the multiple searcher. And with long-tail keywords expanding to existence, we as online advertisers will increase our chance greatly of search exposure.

What’s an impression?

Impressions all start with search no matter what the viewer is looking for, if they see the page that your ad is on it does count as an impression. You often times see Pay-Per-Click advertisements showing large amounts of impressions for a certain match type called “broad” match. This match type normally shows more impressions due to the fact that it is not within a “phrase” or an [exact] match term. Although phrase can generate more impressions than exact, the broad type is the highest performer when it comes to showing for multiple long and short tail keywords. Remember, when you are trying to lower your Click-Through-Rate (CTR), make sure that you keep a close eye on the broad match term. If you want to only show your ads for a particular keyword, you will need to use [exact] match keywords. This will help lower your CTR and your impression volume.
