With the market so bad, SEO could be the only solution.

As we all know industry markets today are trying to subsidize production cost with the vastly increase in gas and oil prices. Many business tend to crunch numbers and then look at advertising as a way to cut cost to save a few dollars. Meanwhile, the web is energy effecient and gas and oil free to some extent and internet marketing may be the solution to saving money while still being able to promote products and services.

Not only are businesses moving forward with online sales, lead generation, and products, but now SEO could really play a new era in marketing dispite the struggling economy. If businesses can now turn to “organic” recognitions for online sales and services then the cost of promotions will drastically drop because the ability to be present online is free with SEO. Of course we all know that “organic” listings are not necessarily free but the listing is. Many hard working hours, plans, and skills go into making a competitive business and allowing it to rise to the top for keywords and top ranking positions. But ultimately, the internet is going to be the only way that we can withstand the market and still keep product levels up and moving forward.

For your next advertising venture you may want to consider moving toward SEO and “organic” listings. Studies have shown that strong buying consumers focus their eyes on the “Golden Triangle” which is the top 5 “organic” listings just under the sponsored ads within a search engine. And with 98% of business to business buyers searching in Google, then it would make sense to spend more and more advertising dollars on SEO rather than print media, billboards, etc.

Optimize page URL’s for better SEO placement

Back in the early 2000’s we use to build web pages with all kinds of names and numbers. We didn’t care to much about the name of the webpage we were building, we just wanted to make the HTML code look pretty for all visitors to see. Well, today it is different with search engine optimization at everyones finger tips. Yeah, exactly, you will not catch me designing websites full of product1.php and product2.php these days. Today it is different, here is how…

Google uses the URL’s of webpages within a domain to help them better understand what the page may be about other than the title tag and the H1 tag that follows. For example, if you are the webmaster of computers.com then the last thing you want to do is call each product page by an id number or use dynamic URL’s with “?” marks.

If we break up the products into certain product categories we can really optimize for search. Lets say you have 200 Apple computers to sell, which page would most interest you, computers.com/macbook-pro.php or computers.com/apple1.php. This goes without saying, but time and time again you will find a number of Search Engine Marketers out there that have still not takin the time to pay attention to this fine but relevant detail in SEO.

We recommend using your “.htaccess” file immediately and change all your URL’s within your website to really focus on what keywords best represent the web-page being optimized.

Make your URL changes today and watch the traffic increase a percentage or two…

Why do I sometimes show up on the first page and then I don’t?

This is a great question. Google explains that this will happen when search queries are shown for certain regional IP’s. If you normally are showing up on the 2nd or 3rd page but sometimes show up randomly on the 1st page then you are experiencing a regional search result. Google’s Webmaster tools is great place to show exactly where your site is showing for particular keywords in the global search results.

You can access your site map under the web master Tools and then go to the Statistics page where you will be able to see monthly and weekly “Top Keyword Searches.”

If you need assistance in setting up a site map for your website or have questions about SEO, then please go to our contact page. One of your SEM’s will help you reach the search results you are looking for.
