For many years now search engine marketers have evolved out of multiple industries and professionals. From the computer science major, to the business marketer many internet related professions have found their way to to web design, SEO, and even pay per click campaigns. We have certainly seemed to evolve into this industry because of the passion for it and the past experiences that have allowed us to be apart of such a vibrant and strong “cutting-edge” profession.
Today, Search Engine Marketers are now gaining credibility for certifications like the Google Adwords Professional and many others that are now online today. Yet, we still have not actually had a department arise in universities or a degree set for a “search marketing” professional.
Although SEMPO is building out lesson plans and small degree like formations for the younger generation to get a grasp of the track that we are now laying before them. It is now my knowledge that SEO, INC (an SEO company based in San Diego, CA) is now teaching classes at UC San Diego. Although I am not surprised, it seems that this will become the norm as we approach 2009 as more and more SEO companies, firms, and freelance professionals begin teaching circulum for the up and coming SEO minors.
Actual Article of SEO INC: SEO Inc. to Teach Search Engine Optimization Class at UC San Diego
Keep up the good work, we have a lot more to learn and to teach.

Although web designers can be segregated into a number of different categories like: web design, web programming, database management, search engine marketer, seo expert, etc… It is important these days to hire a specialist for a certian job and make sure that your project consists of the right talents for each. You also have to consider that most internet based jobs are now being narrowed down in to specialist fields like I mentioned above, so you may want to research what it may take for per job and skillset.
If you are wondering what the average cost is per hour to hire someone to do internet or web based work; you may want to consider the following:
1. For a Design Firm or Agency, the average price per hour for web related work can be around $100 per hour.
2. For a small web design firm you may be able to find strong talented programmers and web designers for about $35 to even $60 an hour.
3. If you have small projects that can be executed in a short amount of time, you may be able to hire a freelance website designer, programmer, and internet marketing guru for around $15 to $25 an hour.
You also have to consider the project at hand as well… Most businesses that prefer strong page position and an excellerated rate of traffic, plus an e-commerce store front are much more willing to pay the above $100 per hour rate. If you are spending this much, you not only will get quality and performance, but more than most of the time you will have a team that is committed to helping you reach your online goals and exposures.
If you have ever heard of “You Get What You Pay For,” then you can probably bet that spending $10 to $15 an hour for logo design, web design, and even small internet marketing campaigns will not get you the results that you are ultimately looking for. Not only that but your team may work only commit to portion of your project or less… Which will make your deadlines be farther along than if you would have started with an agency that has a strong history of clientele.
