Many search engine marketers are feeling the rage even a year ago from now because of the optimization that goes along with search. Google did launch the local search feature about a year ago to help local businesses better place themselves in Google rankings when a particular location keyword is inserted within a query like “vacations san diego” for instence. Today, the feature still exists on the playing field and has now grown from three to five local search results to ten listings depending on the query called.
Some or many even may have frawned upon this as a way for local business to dominate the location targeted search terms. Well, they were right it certainly does, but let’s look at the growth of the internet, maybe even the increase in search, and the highly profitable increase of doing more and more business on the web. We are entering an era where teens are searching on cell phones and mature adults are engaging in social media networks. As the future rolls on SEM’s (search engine marketers) are going to have to develop more and more ways to attract the multiple searcher. And with long-tail keywords expanding to existence, we as online advertisers will increase our chance greatly of search exposure.

Impressions all start with search no matter what the viewer is looking for, if they see the page that your ad is on it does count as an impression. You often times see Pay-Per-Click advertisements showing large amounts of impressions for a certain match type called “broad” match. This match type normally shows more impressions due to the fact that it is not within a “phrase” or an [exact] match term. Although phrase can generate more impressions than exact, the broad type is the highest performer when it comes to showing for multiple long and short tail keywords. Remember, when you are trying to lower your Click-Through-Rate (CTR), make sure that you keep a close eye on the broad match term. If you want to only show your ads for a particular keyword, you will need to use [exact] match keywords. This will help lower your CTR and your impression volume.
